Privacy Overview
What the extension does
SEO Scrubbox is a technical SEO analysis tool that inspects the currently active webpage selected by the user. It analyses URL status codes, redirects, indexability signals, internal linking, rendered content, structured data, sitemaps, and optional Chrome UX Report metrics.
Data the extension processes
- Website content of the currently active page, including HTML, meta tags, links, headings, structured data, and text content.
- Network metadata such as HTTP status codes, redirect chains, response headers, robots.txt, and sitemap files.
- User-provided settings, such as internal URL limits and an optional Chrome UX Report API key.
What we do not collect
- Personally identifiable information
- Browsing history across multiple sites
- Authentication credentials
- Keystrokes, mouse movements, or form inputs
- Location data
Where data is processed
All page analysis is performed locally within your browser. The extension does not transmit page content to Scrubnet servers.
Network requests
The extension may make direct HTTP requests to publicly accessible URLs related to the page being analysed (for example: redirects, internal links, robots.txt, sitemaps). Optional Chrome UX Report requests are sent directly to Google using a user-supplied API key.
Storage
Limited data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome storage APIs for:
- User preferences
- Short-term caching of audit results to reduce repeated requests
This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared by removing the extension.
Cookies
The SEO Scrubbox extension does not set cookies.
Lawful Basis (UK GDPR)
Processing is carried out under the lawful basis of legitimate interests, specifically to provide on-page technical SEO analysis explicitly requested by the user.
Security
- No execution of remote JavaScript or Wasm.
- Minimal permission usage aligned with extension functionality.
- All optional API keys are stored locally in Chrome storage.
Responsible disclosure
If you believe you have discovered a security issue related to the extension, please contact contact@scrubnet.org with details and reproduction steps.
Your Rights
As no personal data is centrally collected or stored by the extension, most data subject rights requests are not applicable. If you have questions or concerns, you may contact us at contact@scrubnet.org.
